Well my boy survived (well me actually!) his first summer camp experience. Me however, it will take a full year to get over and then allow him to go again. :-)
He had a great time. The weather wasn't the greatest but he loved it anyway. About a 1/3 of the camp came down with the flu and kids ended up sleeping at the "hospital". Boy, I bet the volunteer nurse had her work cut out for her, mine included. He only spent one night there but I guess there were other kids you did more time there.
Aside from this he came home happy, dirty, in the same clothes as 7 days earlier and already asking me to sign him up again for next year!
I had plenty to keep my mind occupied. Work and then there was was the family that came to visit. 1 mother-in-law and 4 sister-in-laws. Yes, they came, stayed a night then went off on a cruise to Alaska to take in the iceburgs and maybe a polar bear or two. Then they were back, stayed another night all camped out on my living room floor (not MIL - she gets the Kitten's bed) then back to the airport for the sisters and MIL is staying for another week.
It is okay...she has some friends and family she wants to visit. AND the best part is that she is a great cook. We have this thing. When she comes to visit she MUST make the famous cinnamon buns. Man are they good. Being a farmer's wife she is a pro at making bread and buns. She would whip up a few loaves of bread each and every morning. Now we rely on the bread machine to make the dough. Much easier on her hands. So we usually get the good ole' machine out and ready to go for her arrival on my door step. Well guess what?? The old machine had seen better days...had to be retired.
So not to be without a trusty bread maker what do I do? I went and purchased a new little gem for the counter. I will let you know how it all turns out.
